Marvy Border Punch Cartridge for Creative Memories Border Punch System

With a minor modification you can use the Marvy Border Punch Cartridges (Cleaver Lever Quick Borders Craft Punch System) with the Creative Memories (CM) Border Punch System.  Marvy Border Punch Cartridges come in 8 beautiful designs.

On the bottom of the punches are small groves that enable to punch to slide into the punch lever.  The CM Punch has 2 groves and the Marvy Punch has only one.  In order for the Marvy Punch to slide into the CM lever the groves need to be gently filed down to match. See below for a comparison.

The punches stack nicely on top of each other.  You need to mark the mark the Marvy Punch where the groves need to be filed down.
We used the Black and Decker grinder pictured above to gently create matching groves in the Marvy punch.
You can also an ordinary stainless steel nail file to file the plastic down.

The Marvy cartridge will now slide gently into the CM lever.

See below for the beautiful new border.

There is one major difference when using the Marvy cartridges vs the CM cartridges, the Marvy punches don't conveniently pop out of the CM lever when the eject button is pushed, they need to be gently pulled out of the lever.

How To Sharpen Your Dull Craft Scissors and Punches

Scrapbookers and papercrafters use paper punches to create different shapes of paper that can be used as embellishments on a scrapbook page or other paper craft project. These little tools often become dull or may get stuck when you are trying to punch through certain papers. Sharpening or lubricating the punch makes the tool easier to use.

Things You'll Need:

Cleaning cloth
Aluminum foil
Wax paper

Instructions:

1.  Clean the punch or scissors with a damp cloth or mild cleaning solution to remove any lint or adhesives.  Adhesive removers like Goo Be Gone or an Adhesive Erase Tool (EK Success Adhesive Eraser or Xyron Adhesive Eraser Cube) may help.

2.  take a piece of aluminum foil and punch your craft punch or cut your scissors through it several times to sharpen the edges. Punch on a thicker paper like card stock to see if it cuts more easily.

3.  Punch your craft punch or cut your scissors through a piece of wax paper several times to lubricate the blades.

Another Tip:  If your craft punch starts to jam regularly then put it in the freezer so that metal can shrink slightly and this may solve your problem.
